The Chinese KFC Lets You Buy Your Favourite Burger With ‘Smile To Pay’ Technology

A KFC concept restaurant in Hangzhou, China has installed an Alipay ‘Smile to Pay’ system that lets customers pay for their meals with a smiley-face recognition and their mobile phone number.

The healty-concept restaurant of KFC, KPRO is the first restaurant to use the system designed by Ant Financial Services Group, an Alibaba Group affiliate. The recognition technology scans the face of the customer whether she changes her hair, makeup, and even more smiling at the camera with friends.

As we see in the video, the ‘Pay with Face’ kiosk allows customers to process their payment by smiling after placing the order from. A 3-D camera then scans the customer’s face to verify their identity, and the phone number verification is also needed for the added security.Customers can use Smile to Pay only if they registered to the Alipay app — the online mobile plaform from Alibaba.

So all you have to do is order your best meal and —literally— be there with your own face then smile.
