Nike has constructed “the world’s first full-size LED running track”, situated right in the center of Manila and the site plan is inspired from the footprint of LunarEpic running shoe.
Great news for those who are addicted to Nike Run events! The Philippines now has an epic, LED running track, Unlimited Stadium, which allows runners to compete with their own selves. The stadium is created by Nike Team, conceptualized by BBH Singapore and digitally promoted by Birdman.
The 200-meter-long Unlimited Stadium is taking over an entire city block and formed into a figure-eight — in shape. Lined with LED screens, up to 30 runners can partake in a virtual race against themselves. After setting an initial lap time, a sensor is attached to each athlete’s shoe and they can compete with their own digital selves running alongside them on the continuous LED screen.
Akane Inada Millar, from the Production Team at Birdman explains the project,
Hyper accurate RFID (Radio-frequency identification) tracks your first lap time. On the next lap, your avatar appears, running your previous time. Beat it, and it runs your new best time — challenging you to keep bettering your best.
This is a very innovative work and a good opportunity for who plans to travel the Philippines and looking for a new running experience.
