Presenting their first Christmas campaign, BBC One released an animated short film about an emotional father-and-daughter tale.
Designed by BBC Creative and Blinkink, the story is a mixture of stop-motion and animation about a young girl who’s very excited about her school’s Christmas Talent Show – though her father seems to be too busy with work, he cannot be supportive as his daughter expected him to be, or so we think…
As she steps out her stage and get petrified under the glare of the audience, her dad comes out from the crowd to help her remember the moves, because while he seem distracted, he was there the whole time. The film features a song by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson, called “Symphony”.
Directed by the award-winning, Elliot Dear from Blinkink, the spot is a radical new approach to animation.
BBC Director of Content, Charlotte Moore commented,
Christmas is a time when people come together to enjoy shared experiences, and special moments. We wanted to reflect that in our Christmas campaign this year and we hope this film will touch hearts and make you smile over the festive period.
As 2017 becomes the year of the ’emotional commercials’, BBC One hits the spot with the theme being supportive and family bliss. The film will be accompanied by four idents and a set of digital productions.
