CSI Media Designed and Developed a New Website for the Automotive Leader Cargiant
Cargiant is the largest used-car dealership in the world.
Established in 1976, Cargiant has 40 years of heritage with a sustained record in providing excellent customer service; this is embodied by several award-wins including ‘Used Car Retailer of the Year, ‘Car Supermarket of the Year, and ‘Independent Dealer of the Year.
The Challenge
Following a competitive tendering process, and given CSI Media’s expertise in automotive website design, Cargiant appointed CSI Media to design and develop a new website. Cargiant identified several issues with their previous website: key menus were not accessible on mobile devices, there were no dedicated landing pages for vehicles, and their marketing team highlighted the cluttered, “overly dark” nature of the design.
In addition to resolving these UI issues, Cargiant also required several pieces of functionality.
Their Solution
They worked in close collaboration with Cargiant during the design phase by collecting feedback on key pages and design elements; this enabled them to deliver a fine-tuned solution that met the needs of Cargiant and their stakeholders.
Their choice of Content Management System (CMS) was Umbraco, a powerful, easy-to-use CMS where Cargiant’s marketing team manages the content on their website. Umbraco incorporates a Page Builder tool that enables Cargiant to build custom landing pages by adding any combination of components, helping Cargiant to effectively market its cars and affiliated services.
Functionality
The website incorporates several pieces of functionality.
A key feature is the search function which includes a basic search where users select a make and model, and an advanced search where users can select from over 15 criteria including color, fuel efficiency, transmission, and mileage.
The website features a car comparison tool, where users can choose up to five cars in any one search, and compare key criteria to help them make an informed decision.
A finance calculator tool calculates finance options based on three data parameters: deposit, contract length, and mileage – their development team wrote an API that retrieves this data from Codeweavers.
Further functionality includes the ability to book a test drive, e-stock alerts, pricing alerts, and finance applications.
CSI Media is continuing to work with Cargiant by fine-tuning existing functionality and introducing new features to further enhance the customer experience.
Jenny Cahill, Head of Marketing of Cargiant, said:
I initially approached CSI Media with a relatively complex brief and they went beyond my expectations. It’s a real pleasure to work with a team who cares about the commercial impact of their work as much as the client and delivers quickly, thoughtfully, and with the customer at the heart of their response.
