Spotify has launched its new ‘Cosmic Playlists’ series, which features a custom playlist for each horoscope sign.
As we’re around the lunar eclipse these days, Spotify delves deep into astrology. The streaming platform has debuted “Cosmic Playlists,” twelve different collections curated specifically for each astrological sign, each accompanied by a reading from guest astrologer Chani Nicholas.
The lists mark the coming of the significant cosmic event this year that NASA says will be 2019’s only total lunar eclipse. It will feature what’s called a super blood moon that appears as an especially red, large and bright moon, thanks to its timing and proximity with the earth.
To help listeners make the most of the experience musically, Spotify is encouraging them to to tune into Spotify’s Pop-culture hub to get their horoscope and listen to sign-specific lists, each of which is informed by Nicholas’ horoscope readings.
To promote the “Cosmic Playlists,” Spotify has debuted an out of home campaign consisting of wild postings and projections for when the sun goes down. It will be running over a few nights during the eclipse.
As Spotify teamed with Chani Nicholas to curate playlists for each star sign, the astrologer commented about the project’s curation process,
Astrology is about a specific moment in time. Each moment has a specific astrological mark, or archetype associated with it, that defines it. Spotify and I have come together to take the theme of the moment for each sign and curate a playlist that reflects that.
The feature explains the playlists change each month to reflect your horoscope, this will peak in 2019 as a concept in music streaming business.
