INSPIRE, INfraStructure in Proton International REsearch, is a Horizon2020 European integrating activities research project* led by the University of Manchester, which coordinates proton beam therapy (PBT) research across Europe.
PBT is a radically new type of advanced radiotherapy most often used in the treatment of cancer and the UK’s first NHS high energy proton beam therapy centre is due to open at The Christie hospital in the autumn. Manchester digital agency e3creative has been brought on to the project to introduce a prominent online presence, including website design, development and strategy.
Managing Director of e3creative Jake Welsh said:
The innovation stemming out of the INSPIRE project is astounding and the teams at e3creative feel privileged to leverage their expertise to further the initiative.
The multilingual web platform will act as a key resource for the project to achieve their objectives by aligning research knowledge and resources and communicating with academia, industry, hospitals, policy makers, patients and carers across several European territories.
Coordinator of INSPIRE Professor Karen Kirkby said:
Through INSPIRE there is an opportunity for Europe to establish a real lead in the PBT research field. With prestigious recognition across the globe, we are delighted to have e3creative on board to develop and deliver an innovative and creative digital platform that will help us achieve our goal of ensuring that excellent multi-disciplinary research is undertaken and best practice shared.
Professor Kirkby is also the Chair in Proton Physics at The Christie and is leading a research group in Manchester that will use the research facilities at the Trust to develop PBT in the future.
This project, in particular, resonates with e3creative, as the opportunity enters the agency the same years as the Mara Foundation was launched. Established in the name and memory of Mike Mara, a legendary designer that passed away from cancer in 2015, to recognise his achievements, celebrate his strengths and echo his legendary spirit of generosity.
*** INSPIRE is funded by the European Union’s H2020 Research and Innovation Programme, under Grant Agreement No. 730983
