Dorset: From Beauty Spot, To Creative Hot Spot.
Dorset is mainly known for its beautiful landscape and nature reserves and is not widely spoken about within the art world. However, we have seen the creative industry here boom with worldwide expansions, exciting ideas, and creative innovations.
Crowd first began its journey along the coast of South England amongst sandy beaches and acres of forest.
10 years later, Dorset has now bloomed into a thriving creative industry, including agencies, artists, and digital innovators that are making waves way beyond its famous 7 miles of sandy beach!
4 miles from that famous beach is The Arts University Campus and where Crowd first began. They are still connected with the going on at the university, joining in with their events and having talented graduates joining their team.
Daniel Cox, Head of AUB Open Campus, talks about AUB’s impact on the Arts industry:
AUB believes in the power of creative education to transform lives and society. Dorset is a vital creative place with a long history of innovation. The evidence of the benefits of creativity to the economy, well-being, and social cohesion is overwhelming. At a time when access to creative education is being limited, we need to do more to ensure access to the creative arts and design thinking for pure enjoyment and to help answer some of the challenges we are all facing.
As seen by Arts University Bournemouth, Dorset has a range of great educational opportunities and Weymouth college does not fall short of creative talent. Julia Howe, Principal and CEO of Weymouth College, speaks about the importance of working with local businesses and new students entering the world of work in Dorset.
We are extremely pleased to support and very much welcome the Investment Opportunities Propositions released today by the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership. Promoting the many possibilities offered locally for potential investors in key business areas and showcasing the strengths and wealth of experience that lie within our geographical area is very positive for Dorset. As a Dorset College, we work in partnership with local employers supporting skills-led training and advancement. Through the development of expertise, readiness, and competence we ensure our students are best prepared to enter the Dorset workforce and firmly believe that this skills-led strategy supports the Dorset industry in retaining, growing and optimizing the undeniable talent we have right here on our doorstep.
Dorset Local enterprise partnership helps the county drive economic growth, working with businesses, local government and education institutes, only further improving the talent already around us!
Dorset LEP Chair Cecilia Bufton, said:
This has been produced jointly in close partnership with both BCP and Dorset Councils under our collective “Invest in Dorset” brand, and we created it to promote the world-leading skills and expertise in digital creative that the county is replete with. It aims to raise the profile of the sector to investors, suppliers, customers and to pupils and graduates as a fine career choice.
3 Sided Cube is an agency for good by using technology to change lives for the better. Also based by the seaside, Crowd has worked collaboratively and is close as a creative community. Co-founder, Puff Story is quoted:
This really showcases the world-leading, impactful businesses and talent we have in Dorset today, and it’s only growing stronger. Quite a few businesses operate globally from Dorset, including ours, and I do think this, alongside the work DIT does, will help raise our collective profile further.
