We’re on the lookout for a passionate and motivated Middleweight Designer to join us on a short-term contract. If you love creating impactful, strategically-driven designs, this could be the perfect role for you. This is a 2-month contract covering one of our designers while they enjoy a sabbatical, running from mid-March to mid-May 2025. During this time, you’ll collaborate closely with our team to tackle exciting design challenges and deliver exceptional work for a mix of brands and organisations, both big and small. We’re a fast-paced, versatile studio that delivers on everything from brand identities to creative campaigns, pixel-perfect websites, and everything in between. To thrive here, you’ll need to hit the ground running and be adaptable in your day-to-day delivery. ‍Please note: This is an office-based role at our studio in Chelmsford, Essex.

What We’re Looking For
:

You’ll be someone with:

• Agency or design experience (around 3+ years is ideal)
• Strong digital design skills with an eye for layout
• A solid understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
• Incredible attention to detail
• The ability to thrive under pressure, delivering high-quality work on time
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain and articulate your ideas
• An openness to feedback and a growth mindset
• Bonus Points: Motion and animation skills

The Role:

Polar are on the prowl for a web developer. We’re a small creative agency – born and bred in Chelmsford. As a rapidly growing agency, we’re looking for someone who thinks innovatively, enjoys being part of a close-knit team and is able to overcome obstacles in the ever-changing face of design. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing all aspects of our web process, from research, development and delivery. You will also be happy working directly with clients.

Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining websites for a variety of clients
• Managing all aspects of our web process, from research, development, and delivery
• Working closely with clients to understand their needs and provide digital solutions
• Collaborating with the design team to ensure that design and functionality are aligned
• Managing multiple projects and responding to a fast-paced environment
• Bringing outstanding digital solutions to each project
• Providing feedback to others and being a team player
• Demonstrating a focus on delivering quality work with a keen eye for detail

Requirements:

• Minimum of two years experience building and developing websites, ideally in an agency
• A strong and varied website portfolio
• Good knowledge of HTML, CSS & Javascript
• Good knowledge of domains, DNS & website hosting
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent organisational skills
• Focussed and able to be proactive
• Great communication skills and ability to work directly with clients
• Open-minded approach to design and development
• Ability to digest, understand and deliver to specification
• Ability to work on multiple projects and respond in a fast-paced environment
• Driven to bring outstanding execution to each project
• A team player, willing to take on feedback and provide feedback to others
• Ambitious and driven

Desirable:

• WordPress experience
• Webflow experience
• Figma / Adobe XD experience
• Adobe Creative Cloud experience
