
Migrating Bamboo Basics to Shopify for a More Seamless Online Experience
Bamboo Basics are known for their butter-soft, high-quality products made from bamboo. An environmentally conscious fabric with a multitude of benefits such as being breathable, silky soft, and hypoallergenic. Their extensive range of basics covers underwear, socks and tops for men, women and babies.
They needed to enhance their online presence to better serve their existing customers and enter into the international market with a strong identity. A migration from WooCommerce to Shopify was the transition needed to power the next phase of their business.
Challenge
After years on WooCommerce, the complicated backend affected speed and useability and limited the possibilities for design on the front end. The brand felt the webshop speed and past designs could impact their international growth, which was their next business ambition.
At Not Selling Liquid, we specialize in seamless Shopify migrations. By transitioning Bamboo Basics from WooCommerce to Shopify, we were able to upgrade their online presence.
We began with creating an efficient system for sorting and managing their entire collection on the back end, re-organising their product data. On the front end, this translated into a far easier system for customers to navigate and filter, and it also allowed for more flexibility in running promotions. We also implemented a hierarchy in the product offering to streamline things with categories and subcategories. Improving the usability translated into a commercial conversion, as speed and clarity are hugely important for a successful customer journey.
The redesign was an opportunity to make the brand language more cohesive and consistent. We implemented a new colour palette and design system, and incorporated storytelling elements more subtly throughout the website. The brand wanted to highlight the qualities of bamboo alongside the rest of the website content. The redesign ensured the right story and details were communicated where relevant and more intentionally.
Results
After the migration was successfully launched, we also offered Shopify training and onboarding to their team to get to know the new platform. Post-live support following a transition is essential to ensure the client can easily navigate their new platform and straighten out any initial learning pains.
On their first day, the conversion rate reached 7%. The AOV increased by 9% compared with the previous year. Total online sales were up by 24% and total orders were up by 13% with an AOV of 9% higher than before. As well as brilliant order results, the speed dramatically improved according to the Speed Index (Google Lighthouse) by 45%.
Overall this is a great progression for Bamboo Basics as a business and a brand. Their refreshed identity and seamless webshop experience gives them the tools they need to achieve their ambitions.
