Revitalizing Applethwaite: A Website Transformation Case Study

Revitalizing Applethwaite: A Website Transformation Case Study
Applethwaite is a house builder based in the northwest of England, providing quality homes across Lancashire and Cumbria and in 2008, they became a part of the Eric Wright.
Applethwaite provides a range of quality homes on select sites across Lancashire and Cumbria. They are committed to providing customers with homes that meet the demands of today’s lifestyles, whilst harmonising with the local environment and providing a sound investment for the future.
Following the successful company rebrand carried out by Absolute, the Applethwaite team commissioned Absolute to help them overcome some of the challenges they faced with their current website.
The Idea
The previous Applethwaite website was developed in WordPress and was heavily dependent on custom fields, which together, led to challenges with security, flexibility and scalability. The website has become tired, difficult, and costly to maintain the client found that the website was struggling to support the continued growth of the Applethwaite business.
The Applethwaite team asked Absolute to create a website solution that put them back in control. They wanted to reduce the dependency on external support, whilst empowering them to add their own content, manage home developments, and plot availability using a bespoke, tailor-made solution to deliver their requirements.
The Delivery
Working with the team, Absolute created a fresh, bespoke website, built on a modular framework to provide more control for the Applethwaite marketing and sales teams. The design carried through the clean new branding whilst providing a user experience that complimented the unique Applethwaite approach.
Absolut Agency wanted to give the user an individual, premium feel, at the same time as making it easy to browse and search for the perfect home, with a clear focus on lead generation.

Absolute Agency Case Study: Putting Seddon in Control

Absolute Agency Case Study: Putting Seddon in Control
Seddon is a forward-thinking company with extensive experience in delivering new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects across a range of sectors. So, when Seddon approached Absolute for a bold new website, it needed to reflect Seddon’s culture, personality as well as the key delivery streams of construction projects, housing partnerships, property services and engineering services.
The Idea
As Seddon offer such a wide range of services across so many sectors, Absolute felt the best way of reflecting this would be to create a website that acts as a hub for all construction and engineering projects. The new website would give Seddon the opportunity to showcase the work they do, for example, the mental health awareness project with Jordan’s Conversation through to their many partnerships with community support schemes.
The new website would embrace Seddon’s distinctive tone of voice, being contemporary yet paying homage to the company’s strong history. The main sections of the website would be kept accessible by ensuring the page hierarchy remained minimal. Absolute wanted users to see a top-level view of all the services Seddon have to offer, with the option to view further details within each section. They also wanted to create a central point for company news, events and insights, as well as a route for apprentices and graduates to join the company.
The Delivery
Having tried various “off-the-shelf” content management solutions, the team at Seddon were impressed with their Absolute Control CMS, which could be completely customised to suit their needs. The simplicity and ease of use of the system meant minimal training requirements and Seddon’s team could begin producing content immediately.
Working closely with Seddon, they composed a series of user stories. This helped Absolute to fully understand the common tasks that Seddon would perform. From this, Absolute defined a suite of modules that make up the building blocks of the web pages. Combining and reusing the modules enabled them to build unique page layouts without the need for extensive web development work.
The team wanted to showcase the projects that they had completed, so Absolute created a “project” module for them, allowing Seddon to upload details, photos and renders of their projects quickly and easily. Absolute Control’s modular architecture means users can enhance the projects page with statistics, videos, client testimonials and much more from content stored anywhere within the system. This flexibility means that new projects can be added to the site quickly and evolve over time. These modules can be used to create distinctive news pages to show focused and personalised content.
The Result
Seddon’s new website successfully delivered on all the objectives that were set out at the beginning. The new website brings together Seddon’s delivery streams, construction expertise as well as their personality and strong brand.
Absolute Control’s ease of use meant that the team at Seddon were comfortable updating the site within a few hours. Absolute look forward to following their journey.

Absolute Agency Created a Visually Impactful Recruitment Campaign for York St. John University

Absolute Agency Created a Visually Impactful Recruitment Campaign for York St. John University
Finding the right university for you can feel like an emotional roller coaster ride. With their supportive, caring and friendly student support services, York St John pride themselves on helping you get through this overwhelming process and into a university where you can truly be yourself.
Following on from the brand development project and website launch, York St John came to Absolute Agency to create a visually impactful recruitment campaign which communicates what makes them different from any other university.
The Insight
To uncover what makes York St John unique Absolute needed a greater understanding of why any student should choose to study there. Heading over to York, they conducted an Absolute Clarity workshop with existing students to gain first hand insights.
Absolute discovered the university is all about embracing the eclectic. The city itself is a melting pot of old and new, green spaces and city life. It’s because of this that they attract an array of characters from both the local area as well as internationally. The small scale of the university also means there’s a greater sense community, it’s a place where students feel supported, nurtured and celebrated for their own unique personalities. It’s a university where you can really feel like you belong.
The Idea
All these aspects became the focus for the messaging, which was then neatly tied together with ‘York St John is The One’ campaign line. This was visually communicated with the number ‘1’ as a graphic device, which also incorporated the brand patterns Absolute created as part of the re brand. All these elements combined give the campaign the energy and impact it needs to cut through the clutter of the higher education sector.
The Delivery
The rollout of the campaign was undertaken through a phased approach, from the initial launch to the UCAS events. Absolute created stand graphics and collateral for the recruitment fairs that were held at the start of the year. The Covid-19 pandemic led to ‘YSJU Open Days’ online events only, featuring virtual campus and accommodation tours.
A different approach to their Undergraduate prospectus was adapted for this campaign too.
Rather than an academic-looking and heavily worded document, containing all the course information you would normally expect from a prospectus, Absolute focused on telling the story of the university itself, encouraging potential students to go online to the new website to find out more information.

Absolute Agency Taking Carrs beyond Bolton with PR Campaigns

Absolute Agency Taking Carrs beyond Bolton with PR Campaigns
Carrs Pasties are a Bolton bakery with BIG ambitions. Absolute Agency began working with them in September 2020 on a remit that as well as PR, included brand, campaign, and digital. A fully integrated approach.
Established in 1938 and now in the hands of the third generation of the family, it’s a well-known and well-loved brand in Bolton.
Absolute Agency’s task from a PR perspective was to tell the Carrs Pasties story to relevant press titles beyond its Bolton borders, as it eyed national expansion via growth in trade partners and nationwide delivery of its frozen products.
The Strategy
There was a great story to tell – a family business with a strong heritage, quality products, and owners with personality and passion for its products, people and community, as well as bucket loads of ambition.
It was these elements that Absolute Agency focused on for their media outreach strategy, supported by timely creative video content generation.
Targeting wider North West publications – Carrs Pasties immediate target area for growing its trade partners – as well as grocery trade press and national press, they embarked on a program of intensive media relations to raise the profile of Carrs Pasties.
The Result
In just six months, Absolute Agency achieved 33 pieces of press coverage, with a circulation of 790,000, coverage was viewed 834,000 times and resulted in 1.25k social shares.
Print press coverage had a media value of 42.1k.
Impressive results for a local bakery.
The Highlights
- A full-page interview with the Carr brothers in the Metro newspaper – featuring four brand mentions as well as key messages throughout including its stores, trade partners and launch of the nationwide delivery service. And a huge picture of its famous pasties in all their glory!
- Established a relationship with trade title British Baker (part of The Grocer) achieving five pieces of coverage, which included an interview with the Carrs brothers for the titles ‘Born & Bread’ feature, resulting in another full page of press coverage.
- Regional and trade coverage for Carrs Pasties Halloween activity – a spoof on horror classic, Poltergeist devised and delivered by Absolute’s creative team.
- This was also supported with digital spend across social channels and resulted in an uplift of 11% in retail sales and an 81% uplift in doorstep delivery sales week on week.
The future is bright for the Carrs Pasties brand and they are just getting started. Keep your eyes peeled for future activity…

Absolute and Dandara Launch AI-Led Brand Campaign

Absolute and Dandara Launch AI-Led Brand Campaign
Strategic brand and campaign agency Absolute has launched its first campaign for leading UK housebuilder Dandara, marking a significant step forward in the use of generative AI within residential marketing.
Since January, Absolute has been working closely with Dandara’s in-house marketing team to create an integrated multi-channel campaign designed to strengthen regional brand presence and support development sales across key UK locations.
The campaign,‘You’ll feel right at home’, represents a new approach to residential marketing, combining integrated, multi-channel delivery with an AI-led creative and production model designed to increase efficiency while maintaining high creative standards.
Built around the idea of Dandara as the ‘just right’ housebuilder, the work targets distinct buyer groups including first-time buyers, families and downsizers, using tailored messaging to reflect different life stages and motivations.
The campaign captures the emotional journey of homebuying through a series of AI-generated films and supporting assets, built around reassurance, belonging and confidence. Using detailed audience personas and purchasing profiles, Absolute applied generative AI across both development and production. This enabled multiple tailored versions across digital, social and performance channels, while maintaining consistency in environments and characters and allowing for rapid adaptation.
At the heart of the approach is a shift in how property marketing is produced. By removing the need for location shoots, large crews and complex logistics, Absolute was able to deliver the depth and quality of a conventional campaign while significantly reducing the time to market. The model also enables greater creative flexibility, allowing campaigns to be adapted quickly in response to market conditions or performance data.
The work is also complemented by real photography of Dandara’s show homes across marketing channels, ensuring an authentic representation of the homes and developments alongside the AI-led creative.
Trevor Dempsey, CEO of Dandara said:
We were keen to explore how AI could be applied in a way that genuinely adds value to our marketing, but it was important to find a partner who could guide that journey with confidence. Absolute immediately stood out – not just for their ambition, but for their clear understanding of how to bring AI into a campaign in a practical, effective way.
Throughout the process, they demonstrated real expertise and a strong strategic mindset, all while maintaining the human touch that’s so essential in housing campaigns. The result is a campaign we’re incredibly proud of – one that feels both innovative and commercially grounded. It marks an exciting step forward for us, and highlights the real potential for AI to shape future campaigns across the sector.
Chris Hodgen, Managing Director at Absolute added:
Dandara is a business with real ambition and momentum, and we’re proud to be partnering with them at such a pivotal stage in their growth. Over the past two years, we’ve made significant investment in upskilling our team and embedding AI into our creative and production workflows, positioning Absolute at the forefront of Ai creative development. That early commitment now enables us to deliver smarter, faster and more effective campaigns – combining strategic thinking with cutting-edge execution. For Dandara, that means creativity that not only builds brand presence across regions, but also drives meaningful impact at a development level.
The launch further strengthens Absolute’s position within the residential development sector, building on its experience supporting UK housebuilders including Redrow and Applethwaite.
As housebuilders navigate changing buyer behaviour, increasing competition and ongoing cost pressures, the ability to deliver high-quality, insight-led campaigns with greater speed and efficiency is becoming an increasing priority. This campaign signals a broader move towards more scalable, technology-enabled marketing models – where creativity and AI work hand in hand to drive performance.

Applethwaite Homes Builds Its Brand With Absolute Agency

Applethwaite Homes Builds Its Brand With Absolute Agency
Applethwaite Homes turned to Absolute Agency and trusted the brand specialists with an overhaul of its brand positioning.
The home builder develops beautiful homes in rural settings, but its branding did not reflect the quality of the properties and the stunning, unique locations.
Absolute Agency was brought on board to conduct a workshop with an in-depth look into what Applethwaite stood for and the audience they wanted to attract.
The final branding look and feel is now more higher end, with a clear colour palette of luxurious dark blue complemented by a secondary, set of paler colours. Ornamental graphics were developed to represent the development locations and the bespoke font used to add to the quality look and feel of the brand positioning.
The branding includes a full suite of material for each development, brochures, signage, graphics, promotional items and packs for new home owners. The graphics and typography are complemented with Applethwaite’s lifestyle images, which bring to life the various happy moments that home buyers experience when they’re choosing their new home.
This branding has so far been implemented on sites throughout the north west including Inglewood near Preston, Davyfields near Darwen and Brackenwood in Blackburn.
Chris Hodgen, MD of Absolute Agency, said:
We have extensive experience within the home builder and property sectors and when Applethwaite Homes approached us with such a unique challenge it was a great project to work on. Our team worked seamlessly with theirs to really get to the heart of what Applethwaite is about and hearing the internal and customer reaction to the new branding has been fantastic.
Colin Hetherington, MD from Applethwaite Homes, said:
We have always been extremely proud in the quality of the homes we build, however we identified that our existing brand identity and marketing materials didn’t match up to this high quality. We wanted to strengthen our position in the marketplace, whilst delivering a unique customer experience from enquiry through to moving in, which truly represented Applethwaite Homes. We wanted to work with a local agency who had experience in the housing sector, but who also took the time to understand our team, our ambition and who could support us on this journey as an extension of our marketing team. The feedback from customers and internal staff has been really positive and our outside visual identity now matches our internal values.
Applethwaite Homes builds family homes in small and exclusive developments that have individual character, their aim is to provide comfortable homes that reflect the quality and style of times past and satisfy the needs of modern living.

Absolute Delivers Brand Refresh for Redrow

Absolute Delivers Brand Refresh for Redrow
Bolton’s Absolute is behind the brand refresh of a premium homebuilding company, Redrow. As one of the leading home builders in the UK, Redrow design their homes with character, spacious open plan living, and only use quality fixtures and fittings.
But it doesn’t stop there. They also develop thriving communities by putting their customers at the heart of everything they do.
The new brand was first launched in Redrow’s De Clare Gardens development in Caerphilly, Wales, and featured a new-look and digitally focused Customer Experience Suite – already in Redrow’s future plans however 2020 and the COVID 19 pandemic meant a digital-first sales approach was accelerated to meet the demands of the changing landscape.
Simon Allman, Absolute’s Creative Director, said:
Redrow provides premium homes and first-class customer service, but its brand wasn’t aligned with its offer. During our full brand audit, we discovered there was an overcomplicated system that had too much focus on the sub-product identities, diluting the core Redrow brand.
We took a ‘less is more’ approach, stripping back the color palette, fonts and introduced a geometric brand pattern inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement. We also developed a new personable tone of voice that has the ‘A Better Way to Live’ brand purpose at the core of all marketing communications. The result is a more understated, but confident brand, with a lot more character.
Absolute worked closely with Redrow’s marketing team throughout the 18-month project to define a collective vision for the home-builder which better reflects the homes they sell. This included the launch of a new brand marque created by Redrow’s in-house creative team, headed up by Dave Armstrong, to bring a more contemporary and modern look and feel to the brand which is better suited for digital platforms.
Matt Grayson, Redrow Group Customer & Marketing Director, adds:
We’ve worked closely with Absolute for the past few years on a variety of projects, including our ’Why do up’ TV campaigns, and in that time, we’ve had a shared vision for where the brand needed to be. Our biggest focus has been to change the way we sell our homes, taking a digital-first approach and improving the customer experience overall whether that’s online or in-person.
This has enhanced the engagement with our customers at all stages of their home buying journey. Although a lot has changed, everything is rooted in our Arts & Crafts heritage, ‘A Better Way to Live’ philosophy, and 5-star customer service.
The digital focus means that Redrow is perfectly placed for future marketing, leaving the door open for future-proofed technology with new and exciting ways of selling its premium homes to its customers.
The brand refresh is the biggest change in over 40 years and will continue to roll out across all new Redrow developments, Customer Experience Suites, and show homes, as well as all digital touchpoints and social media.
