Immersv launches its advertising platform for games in Virtual Reality.
This “first-of-a-kind platform” Immersv lets VR developers promote their content with ads, and at the same time, enables consumers to discover VR apps.
Immersv was in testing mode since December 2015 and was first presented at the Game Developers Conference.
Immersv was founded by ad veterans Mihir Shah and John Gentilin. Shah used to run a firm that helped sell mobile ads on platforms like Facebook and after that, he was CEO of a VR company acquired by Apple. John Gentilin comes from RockYou, a firm that integrates ads to games.
Mihir Shah, co-founder and CEO of Immersv, says;
It’s kind of similar to really early Facebook. Virtual Reality has reached its tipping point, and just about the only thing holding it back is consumers’ ability to find great VR content. Our goal is to build a marketplace to help consumers discover great VR apps and experiences, and to empower all the artists, content producers and game publishers building VR content to turn their hard work and creativity into commercial success.
Immersv’s VR ads run on any mobile VR platform. Looking like trailer videos, ads pop up at the onset or in the middle of the game. Users can then download that app, using the head tracking feature in the VR device.
The ads are sold on a cost-per-view basis ranging from three to five cents and results are tracked via the Immersv SDK.
