The official Starbucks application for iOS has been updated to add support for Apple Pay, making it possible for iOS users to reload their Starbucks cards using Apple’s payments service.
Version 3.2.1 of the Starbucks app for iOS now allows customers to load their apps directly from Apple Pay, thus eliminating the need to manage their account through various credit and debit cards.
Starbucks was listed as a partner for Apple’s unique mobile payment system when it was launched in October last year. Since then, there has been no support for Apple Pay but the latest update changes that.
The coffee chain uses its own bar code-based system for in-store purchases with the Starbucks app and Starbucks locations are not outfitted with the NFC technology that would enable Apple Pay.
Besides the integration of Apple Pay, the update brought other changes to the app including access to the calorie counts of menu items.

When you browse our menu you’ll now find additional calorie information on menu items. We’ve also enhanced the experience for Mobile Order & Pay in Portland.
Apple Pay is a digital wallet service that secures credit card information within Apple’s newest devices and the service is compatible with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3.
The Starbucks iOS app can be downloaded from the App Store for free.
