Royal Caribbean let the world experience the very-first underwater adventure through the lens of Snapchat Spectacles. The goggles are called “SeaSeekers”!
Royal Caribbean and Snapchat have launched a scuba mask with built-in Snapchat Spectacles so that the Spectacles users can get social under the water too. As part of a campaign called #SeekDeeper, goggles will be available for customers on select Royal Caribbean cruises all around the world.
Royal Caribbean says the purpose of the project is to receive a patent for the product and then equip ships with the goggles so guests can rent them. The company has collaborated with MullenLowe to create the prototype.
Jim Berra, CMO and SVP of marketing at Royal Caribbean International, said:
The SeaSeeker will enable all adventure-seekers to get a front-row seat to the thrilling adventures found underwater in a way that has never been possible before. Snapchat continues to be a favorite channel for curious travelers and is the ideal platform for this first-of-its-kind undersea exploration.
We are excited to find an innovative way to use the Snapchat Spectacles with our SeaSeeker mask so that we can bring the underwater experience to our guests as they visit the incredible destinations we sail to. We’ve even taken the added step of applying for a patent for the SeaSeeker mask so that we can bring it to our guests exclusively.
Last week from June 21 to 25, the Royal Caribbean Snapchat channel invited fans to #SeekDeeper with marine biologist Gabriela Nava, marine wildlife photographer/ conservationist Roberto Ochoa and free diver Ashleigh Baird for a dive into Belize’s Hol Chan Marine Reserve.
Royal Caribbean currently made just 10 prototypes of the product.
