Oscar-winning director Michel Gondry filmed a short documentary named Détour for Apple and it was shot entirely using an iPhone 7 Plus.
Apple UK , collaborated with the famous French director, producing a film which has a lot of summer vibes so it gets you going and wanting to watch more.
“Détour” is inspired by the works of Jaques Tati and Albert Lamorisse and pays homage to the classics of French cinema as well as using the high-tech features on the iPhone. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director uses perspective tricks, animation, time-lapse, stop-motion and low-light, fans can find out the techniques online.
The 10-minute video features a a tricycle and a family – going on vacation in their camper-van. The little girl’s tricycle becomes detached from its owner shortly after the family set off on vacation. Then the child insists they do not forget her tricycle but eventually it separates, and then tries its hardest to get back to its owner.
Because the concept in the film is so ‘French’, it inspires and brings joy in the warm summer days.
