Apple has launched its new recycling robot Daisy within its Earth Day donations.
Daisy, the company’s latest innovation, has been released along with the announcement of Apple’s GiveBack. As part of the program, Apple aims to turn the devices customers have into the ones they want.
The company shared that they make a donation to the Conservation International, a non-profit organisation helping to build a healthier and productive planet for 30 years, for each device brought to Apple stores and apple.com.
According to the information given in the press release, Daisy is able to disassemble nine different iPhone models to reuse the valuable materials that originate them. This recovery function and higher quality are something that traditional recyclers don’t have.
Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives, said:
At Apple, we’re constantly working toward smart solutions to address climate change and conserve our planet’s precious resources. In recognition of Earth Day, we are making it as simple as possible for our customers to recycle devices and do something good for the planet through Apple GiveBack.
We’re also thrilled to introduce Daisy to the world, as she represents what’s possible when innovation and conservation meet.
The recycling campaign will run until April 30, so you still have time to give back to the planet by donating devices.
What is more, you can also get credit toward an in-store purchase or Apple gift card if you donate eligible ones.
