Google Rolls Out An Updated – And More Personalized Version Of ‘Feed’

Based on search history and location, Google has developed its feed for users to reach more ‘personalized’ search results.

The announcement is made as an overhaul of its search app on mobile phones to include a personalized feed of results that are aligned to the user’s interests, hobbies, sports, travel, news and other topics. Alphabet Inc. also stated that the changes would begin rolling out in the US and the other countries in the following weeks.

Ben Gomes, A Google Vice President for Engineering, said in a briefing that,

This feed is really about your interests … It’s not really about what your friends are interested in,

He also said that there were no immediate plans to include advertising in Google Feed. Typical updates might include a link to website with tips about a vacation spot, or a link to a page that is related to user’s interests.

The Feed will suggest links based on the user’s search history and data from other services such as Gmail, YouTube, etc.

The new feed experience is available in the Google app for US in Android (including the Pixel Launcher) and iOS. It’s rolling out internationally in the next couple of weeks.

Just open the Google app and start personalizing your own search results!
