Google plans to update its Knowledge Graph to provide faster and more accurate health-related information!
Great news for all you illness-prone, worry-wart and hypochondriac beings out there. Google’s updated Knowledge Graph promises to fuel your obsession.
Google’s knowledge graph, introduced earlier this year provided fast-check health information for medical maladies and concerns for users. The tech giant reveals in a post on its official blog, that the Knowledge Graph will soon be updated, upping the ante from 400 conditions to over 900, offering “quick at-a-glance info on symptoms, treatments, prevalence, and more.”
Prem Ramaswami, a Google Product Manager, said in a blog post,
Health conditions continue to be among the most important things people ask Google about, and one of our most popular features.
The company claims that around one in twenty Google searches are for health-related information. The new update will not only double the roster of diseases but also provide improved accuracy for the users, as well as a PDF doc available for download on the subject at hand to aid self-diagnoses.
In collaboration with doctors from the Mayo clinic – an organization that has worked with a high brand medical practice and research centers, Google aims to provide users with proper information from legit sources, a much favored option compared to Yahoo answers, notorious for their “internet trolls.”
At the moment, the health information feature is available only in English, however, the team says that they are working to expand it in other languages as well.
