For a long while, Facebook has been testing the Explore feed for its users on mobile, to find more specific, personalized and quick results.
Therefore, the much-awaited feature is now officially launched on both mobile and desktop devices to help users discover new stories other than those about their friends’ and pages they follow.
The custom-tailored feed helps to discover new profiles and pages that the user might be interested in. Posts are often tagged at the top with “Popular Among Followers of” with a particular page name or “Popular With Your Friends”. Thus, users can see why the platform is pushing that specific post.
The Explore feed will be relying basically on users’ interests and it doesn’t only suggest posts but also places, articles, photos and videos from sources that a user doesn’t follow yet and new groups to join and so on. Thereby, one user’s feed won’t be the same as another users. The Explore section is customized to discover the very-first content for the user.
The new feature is placed hidden within Facebook’s side menu – where Events and Groups are located. On desktop, you can find it in the left-hand column that runs alongside the main News Feed, next to a symbol of a rocket. In the app, you can access it by tapping the hamburger menu button above the News Feed.
Personalization competition is the most important thing between social media platforms and thanks to that, we come across these original ideas almost every other day. So, click here and don’t delay ‘exploring’ your own Explore feed!
