We all know how vital it is to be careful while we’re behind the wheel, but we sometimes ignore this fact and use our phones on the road. Thus, Audi Sweden decided to approach traffic issues in a different way.
The company developed a “Safety Code” project in order to prevent traffic accidents, which may occur because of drivers using their phones to get online, while they’re driving.
According to the statistics, shared on ‘Safety Code’s website, research shows that using phone while driving increases the risk of getting into an accident by 300%.
With the new solution, Audi aimed to reduce potential accidents by offering a free website code which people can apply to website’s scripts easily. Thanks to this Safety Code, the website will be able to identify its visitor’s GPS-position. If drivers exceed a speed of 20 km/h, they will be blocked by the website unless they confirm that they are not a driver.

The “Safety Code” and instructions have already been released to the public.
This is probably one of the best and certain ways to stop drivers from using their phones while driving. However, it needs some strong support by website hosts to become efficient. This means the more companies or individuals embed the code into their websites, the more potential traffic accidents can be prevented.
Audi has been working on new innovative projects to make our lives safer when we are on the road. Safety Code is one of these projects, brought into real life and it is the first solution that allows website owners to contribute to improving safety in traffic.
