Airbnb is planning to release a new feature named “Travel Stories” that allows its users to share special moments from their unique trip.
Aiming to create a new platform that lets travellers to share their captures from their trips to inspire other travellers like them, travel stories are consist of short videos which are limited to 10 seconds each and accompanied by a caption and location.
The new format is available only on iPhone for now and Airbnb users need to have the latest version app to be able to see the new feature in their profile under “Travel Stories“.
Airbnb also gives some tips on capturing video, adding content and creating titles along with descriptions and comments as well. In this way, users will be sharing unique videos which will be useful and more meaningful for other travellers who are wondering about the place captured.
As the new feature still in the test phase, the company also highlighted that users can upload the video only while they are in the Airbnb app.
The company’s spokesperson said in a statement:
We’re always testing new ways to help our community members tell their stories, and this is one idea we are exploring.
Not a day goes by without we hear a popular social app adds a new ‘story’ feature to its service. Even if the idea behind Airbnb’s “Travel Stories” is similar with the ‘story’ formats of social apps such as Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook; it seems that Airbnb is differentiating itself by creating value for its users.
Real life stories matter and travellers want to see natural pictures, videos and find reliable guests when they arrive the place they plan to go.
By creating a platform that lets travellers to show real captured moments and share sincere opinions with each other, Airbnb is continuing to improve its own community including like-minded members who share the common values.
