Domino’s Now Delivers Pizza By Drones In New Zealand

Drones are getting involved in our daily lives gradually and Domino’s is one of the pioneer brands to utilizing the technology.

It’s now happening in New Zealand! A branch of Domino’s Pizza about 10 miles north of central Auckland has sent out its very first drone carrying pizza to a paying customer.

The service launched on Wednesday, 16th November, and it’s “for special customers” for now, the company announced in their release. The project is a partnership between the Pizza Company and Flirtey, a drone delivery startup’s AI gadget.

Let’s watch the first drone pizza delivery here:

The entire menu will not be available for drone delivery, and only those orders will delivered by air which will decrease delivery time compared to the traditional transportation.

Domino’s team are very excited about the delivery, Domino’s Pizza Australia, CEO, Don Meij, said,

We invested in this partnership, and technology, because we believe drone delivery will be an essential component of our pizza deliveries, so even more customers can receive the freshest, hottest pizza we can offer. This is future.

Although the company didn’t announce the US delivery yet but Flirtey is working on it. They are planning to extend the service to six other markets such as Australia, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Japan and Germany.

The most mesmerizing rumour is that the pizza was still hot when delivered!
